Aziara Baker is a 5 year old little girl with Aicardi Syndrome, an extremely rare neurological disorder that only affects girls.  Every two years the Aicardi Foundation hosts a Family Conference where families can come together to learn about the syndrome, share ideas and support one another. The Baker family is trying to raise money to help Azaria attend the conference in Chicago.  More information about Azaria, the fund raiser, and Aicardi Syndrome may be seen at Azaria's website

Thank you for considering a small donation to help Azaria.

Ubuntu upgrade causes Hardy Heron to hang at boot

I like countless others started the day with an upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). I started the upgrade with Synaptic and went through with no issues. The issue started when I rebooted my laptop. On booting when gdm started it just hung right before the login screen opened up. After trying many things I finally hot ctr-atl-f1 to get into a console. I than ran 'top' as root to see what was holding things up. As it turned out 'gdmgreeter' was sitting at %100 CPU. After a little reading I ran into this POST. As it turns out you need to edit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom removing the custom entries for [gdmgreeter].
